Discord Server Subscriptions: How to Monetize Your Community

Discord Server Subscriptions let your community pay for exclusive access, roles, and channels โ€” directly through Discord.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Your server must be a Community Server
  • You must have a valid payment method set up
  • Account must be in good standing (no recent ToS violations)
  • Available in select countries (check Discord's current availability list)

Setting Up Subscriptions

  1. Go to Server Settings โ†’ Monetization
  2. Click Enable Server Subscriptions
  3. Complete the payout setup (Discord uses Stripe)
  4. Create your subscription tiers

Creating Subscription Tiers

You can have up to 3 tiers with different price points and perks:

Example Tier Structure:

| Tier | Price | Perks | |------|-------|-------| | Supporter | $2.99/mo | Subscriber role, exclusive emoji | | Member+ | $7.99/mo | Above + exclusive channels, early access | | VIP | $19.99/mo | Above + monthly 1:1 Q&A, name in credits |

What to Offer Subscribers

Good subscription perks:

  • Exclusive channels (strategy, behind-the-scenes, direct access to you)
  • Custom roles and profile badges
  • Early access to content or events
  • Monthly Q&A calls
  • Ad-free or priority support

Avoid:

  • Paywalling content that should be free to all members
  • Overpromising perks you can't deliver

Revenue Split

Discord takes 10% of subscription revenue. You receive 90% through Stripe payouts.

Promoting Your Subscriptions

  • Create a #subscribe channel explaining the tiers
  • Mention it in your server description on Discords.ai
  • Thank subscribers publicly (with their permission)
  • Run limited-time discounts for new subscribers
