Discord Scheduled Events: How to Create and Manage Them

Scheduled Events put your upcoming activities front-and-center in Discord's UI - members see them when they visit your server.

How Scheduled Events Work

Scheduled Events appear at the top of your server's channel list. Members can:

  • Mark themselves as Interested (they get a notification when it starts)
  • See how many others are interested
  • Click for full details

Creating a Scheduled Event

  1. Click the calendar icon next to your server name
  2. Click Create Event
  3. Choose location type:
- Voice Channel - for in-server events - Stage Channel - for presentations or broadcasts - Somewhere else - for external events (add a URL)
  1. Set the name, date, time, and description
  2. Add a cover image (16:9 recommended)
  3. Set to repeat if it's a regular event
  4. Click Create Event

Making Events Look Great

  • Cover image - Use a branded graphic with the event name and date
  • Description - Include all the details: game, format, prizes, requirements
  • Time - Always specify timezone (or use Discord's auto-convert feature)

Recurring Events

For weekly game nights or monthly tournaments:

  1. Enable the Recurring toggle when creating
  2. Set frequency: Daily, Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly
  3. The event automatically regenerates after each occurrence

Driving RSVP Numbers

  • Announce the event in your main channel when created
  • Send a reminder 24 hours before
  • Ping the @Events role 1 hour before start
  • Mention upcoming events in your Discords.ai server listing

Managing Events

  • Edit events at any time before they start
  • Cancel with a reason - members who RSVPed are notified
  • Start the event manually: click Start Event when ready
  • End the event when finished
