Discord LFG Channels are a forum-style channel type where players post and browse live game invites. LFG stands for "looking for group." Discord says the channels give players "a dedicated space to post and browse live game invites, so it's easier to find others to play with."
The feature is an experiment. Right now, it's live only in the official ARC Raiders server. This page explains how LFG Channels work, how to make and join a post, and how to fix common problems.

How Discord LFG Channels Work
An LFG Channel looks like a forum channel. Each post is a game session someone wants to fill, shown as a card in a grid. Discord says invites sent straight to friends "can get buried in chat," so the channel keeps them in one place.
Each post includes:
- A short description, such as "LF a trio 18+ hmu"
- Tags like Chill, Experienced, No Mic, PvP or Beginner Friendly
- A live session card showing the game lobby and open spots, if the poster linked their account
- Its own thread, where players can chat and join a voice chat before playing

In the official ARC Raiders server, the channel is called #arc-raiders-lfg. It sits in an LFG category alongside regional chat channels.

Before You Start: Turn On Activity Sharing
For other players to join you directly, Discord needs to see your game. Keep the game running and turn on activity sharing in two places:
- User Settings > Activity Privacy > What Activity I Share, then turn on Share my activity.
- Right-click the ARC Raiders server icon, select Privacy Settings, and turn on Share my activity for that server.
You also need your profile or activity set to public on the platform you play on, such as Steam, Epic or Xbox.
For more on these settings, see our Discord privacy settings guide.
How to Make an LFG Post
- Open the LFG Channel in the server.
- Select Create Post in the top-right corner.
- Write a description of who you're looking for (up to 120 characters).
- Pick up to 5 tags.
- Turn Voice Chat on or off.
- To show a live invite card, select Link Account with your game open.
- Select Create to publish your post.

The live invite card only shows while you're playing. Discord says your game must already be running and your account linked before you create the post.
How to Join an LFG Post
- Browse the LFG Channel for a session you like. Use the tags or Search posts to filter.
- Open the post.
- Select Join.
Depending on the game, Join either sends a request the poster accepts in-game, or puts you straight into the session.
Discord suggests chatting in the post's thread first to check "play style, mic preference, and what the poster is looking for."
Linking Your Account
Linking connects your Discord account to your in-game account for a supported game. It's optional.
| Linked | Not linked | |
|---|---|---|
| Create posts | Yes | Yes |
| Join other players | Yes | Yes |
| Live session card with open spots | Yes | No |
| Players can request to join your lobby from Discord | Yes | No |
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause and fix |
|---|---|
| No LFG Channel in your server | The server isn't in the experiment. Access can't be requested. |
| You can't accept a game invite | You're on a different platform from the one the game is installed on. Use the same platform, such as Steam, Epic or Xbox. |
| No live invite card on your post | Check all of these: account linked, game running, platform privacy set to public, and activity sharing on in User Settings and for the server. Then make a new post. |
| Others can't join you directly | Discord can't see your game. Turn on activity sharing in both places above. |
LFG Channels vs LFG Bots
Many servers already use LFG bots or plain text channels for finding teammates. Here's how the built-in feature compares.
| Discord LFG Channels | LFG bots and text channels | |
|---|---|---|
| Availability | ARC Raiders official server only | Any server |
| Live lobby card | Yes, with a linked account | Usually no |
| Join from Discord | Yes, for supported games | No, you swap names or codes |
| Setup | Done by Discord | Set up by server admins |
If your server isn't in the experiment, a forum channel or an LFG bot is still the best option. Our guide to setting up a gaming Discord server covers channels and roles for squads. For a working example, see these Valorant LFG Discord servers for ranked squads.
