How to Link Your Steam Account to Discord
Linking Steam to Discord lets you show off your game library, display your playtime, and help friends see what you're playing. Here's how.
How to Link Steam to Discord (Desktop)
- Open Discord on your PC
- Click the gear icon (User Settings) at the bottom left
- Go to Connections
- Click the Steam icon
- A browser window opens — log into your Steam account
- Click Sign In to authorise the connection
- Steam will now appear in your Connections list
What Linking Steam Does
- Displays Steam on your profile — anyone viewing your profile can see your Steam username
- Shows your game library — Discord can display what games you own (if enabled)
- Rich Presence — Discord shows which Steam game you're currently playing
- Friend Suggestions — Discord may suggest Steam friends who are also on Discord
Privacy Settings
After linking, control what's visible:
- In Connections, find Steam
- Toggle Display on profile on or off
- Toggle Show [game] on your profile per game in Activity Settings
If your Steam profile is private, Discord can still show game activity — but won't display your library.
Troubleshooting
Discord isn't showing my Steam game:
- Make sure Discord has permission to detect running games (Settings → Activity Privacy)
- Run Discord as Administrator (Windows)
- Add the game manually via Settings → Registered Games → Add it!
Wrong Steam account linked:
- Go to Settings → Connections → Click the X next to Steam to disconnect
- Re-link with the correct account
Linking Other Gaming Platforms
Discord also supports connections for:
- PlayStation Network
- Xbox
- Riot Games (Valorant, League of Legends)
- Epic Games
- Battle.net
All follow the same steps — Settings → Connections → click the platform icon.
