IGN reported in June that the remaster came out of upgrading the sequel's engine, and that Telltale chose a full remaster over a simple port.

MonsterVine reports that all of Episode 1, "Faith," was free as a demo during Steam Next Fest, which ended on 26 October.
🔮 What About The Wolf Among Us 2?
After years of delays, The Wolf Among Us 2 is now planned for 2027. According to IGN and GamesIndustry.biz, all five episodes will release at once, instead of Telltale's old episodic schedule.
The road here was rough. The sequel was first announced in 2017, cancelled when Telltale closed in 2018, revived in 2019, and delayed several times. Original co-developer AdHoc Studio left the project in 2025, and Telltale brought in Trick Studios.
