Discord Is Testing Game Time and Account Age Badges

Been on Discord since the early days? You might finally get something to prove it. Discord is testing Account Age Badges, plus three activity badges for Game Time, Game Variety and Streaming, that sit on your profile and level up over time.

There's a big catch, so let's put it up front: these badges are still in testing. Discord's own help center calls them "an experiment" that is "only available to a small number of desktop users at this time." Most people can't see them yet, and nothing has been announced for a full launch.

Still, the details that have surfaced say a lot. Below: what each badge tracks, how the tiers work, which settings matter, and why an OG account could end up with the best flex on the platform.

At a glance

  • The four badges: Account Age, Game Time, Game Variety and Streaming
  • Status: an experiment for a small number of desktop users, per Discord's help center
  • Account Age: shows how many years old your account is, up to 10+
  • Activity badges: level up with hours played, games played or hours streamed
  • Badge Discovery: a reported section where you can track your progress
  • Release date: none announced

๐Ÿงช Yes, These Badges Are Still in Testing

This matters, so it gets its own section. Discord's Profile Badges 101 article, updated on 31 July 2026, says:

"The Account Age, Streaming, Game Time, and Game Variety badges are currently an experiment and are only available to a small number of desktop users at this time."

In plain terms:

  • You can't opt in. Experiments roll out to random accounts.
  • Things can change. Tiers, names and artwork could look different at launch, or the badges could be dropped.
  • No date exists. Anyone promising a release day is guessing.

๐Ÿ… The Four Badges, Explained

Discord hasn't published the full rules. The details below come from community tracker TwilightZebby's badge list and dataminer Discord Previews, so treat them as reported, not official.

BadgeWhat it tracksHow you unlock itTop tier
Account AgeHow many years old your account isAccount older than 1 year10+ years, shown with a star
Game TimeHours spent in detectable games1 hour of play on desktop with Discord open5,000 hours
Game VarietyNumber of different games you've played2 unique detectable games100 games
StreamingHours spent screen sharing1 hour of streaming with someone watching5,000 hours

The tracker lists 10 tiers for each badge, so the icon evolves as you hit new milestones. Streaming sessions add up, so you don't need one marathon stream to progress.

๐Ÿ‘‘ Why Account Age Badges Are the Real Flex

The activity badges reward grinding. The Account Age badge rewards something you can't grind: time.

In June 2026, Discord Previews reported that the badge "will reflect for how many years you've been using Discord, maxing out at 10+ Years." Discord launched in 2015, which means only accounts from the platform's first year or two can reach the top tier today.

That puts it in rare company. Old-school flexes on Discord have mostly been retired:

  • The Early Supporter badge went to people who bought Nitro before October 2018.
  • The Legacy Username badge marks people who had a username with a discriminator (the old #1234 tag).
  • The Nitro badge already shows your subscriber date when someone hovers over it.
Discord already shows tenure for Nitro:
The Early Supporter badge, one of Discord's
The Legacy Username badge, given to

The difference: you can't get an Early Supporter badge anymore. An Account Age badge would let anyone show their tenure, while still keeping the 10+ star exclusive to genuine veterans. Our list of the rarest Discord badges you can no longer get shows why tenure badges get so much attention.

โš™๏ธ Settings That Could Affect Your Progress

According to the community tracker, the activity badges depend on two privacy settings:

  1. Analytics. Needed for Game Time, Game Variety and Streaming. It's under User Settings > Data & Privacy.
  2. Game activity detection. Needed for Game Time and Game Variety. It's under User Settings > Activity Privacy.

Game Time and Game Variety also only count detectable games played on desktop (Windows, Mac or Linux) while Discord is open. Mobile and console play reportedly don't count.

If you'd rather keep analytics off, that's a fair trade-off. You just may not progress if these badges launch.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Badge Discovery and Your Old Stats

Discord Previews reported in July that you'll "be able to see your exact numbers of games played or hours streamed in the Badge Discovery," a section for viewing badges and tracking progress.

BlustBoosts reports that progress is retroactive, meaning past activity counts. The same report notes that older data may not be complete, so your early years of gaming might not all show up.

Discord already uses evolving badges elsewhere. The Gifting badge, also an experiment, levels up the more you gift:

The Gifting badge's six tiers show how

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Discord Account Age Badges available to everyone?

No. Discord says the Account Age, Streaming, Game Time and Game Variety badges are an experiment for a small number of desktop users.

How do I get the Account Age badge?

You can't request it. If your account is in the experiment and is over a year old, the badge reportedly appears automatically.

What's the highest Account Age badge?

Reports say it maxes out at 10+ years, shown with a star.

Does mobile gaming count towards the Game Time badge?

Reportedly not. Only detectable games on desktop, with Discord open, are said to count.

When will the new badges launch?

Discord hasn't announced a date.

Are these the same as server tag badges?

No. These are official profile badges. Server tags are chosen by servers. Our guide to custom server badges vs official profile badges explains the difference.

๐ŸŽฎ The Bottom Line

Discord's Account Age Badges could finally give long-time users a visible way to show their history, with a 10+ year star that newer accounts simply can't earn. The Game Time, Game Variety and Streaming badges add a grind for everyone else.

Just remember that it's all still an experiment. Only a small number of desktop users have it, and the final version could look different, or never ship at all.

How many years would your Account Age badge show?
