How to Set Up a Game Clip Sharing Channel on Discord

A well-configured clips channel becomes one of the most visited channels on any gaming server. Here's how to set it up.

Basic Setup

Create a new text channel — name it #clips, #highlights, or 🎬-clips
Place it in a visible category (not buried at the bottom)
Set a channel description: "Share your best gaming moments! Video clips only — minimum 30 seconds."
Add slowmode — 30-60 seconds prevents flooding

Permissions

Everyone: View Channel, Send Messages, Attach Files, Add Reactions
Mods: Manage Messages (to remove off-topic posts)
Optionally: require Level 5+ to post (prevents spam from new accounts)

Discord's File Size Limits

Free servers: 25MB upload limit
Level 2 Boost: 50MB limit
Level 3 Boost: 100MB limit
Nitro users: Can upload up to 500MB
