The Complete Wiki to Discord B2B Community Structures

A great B2B Discord server works like a funnel.

Guide customers from onboarding to support to patch notes without a maze of channels.

Here is a structure you can build today. 🏗️

📝 Note: Onboarding is a Community server feature, and admins can only configure it on desktop.

Start With the Customer Journey

Design your categories in the order a new customer reads them. Welcome and rules come first, then announcements, then your main channels, with staff and archive channels at the bottom.

Funnel StageCategoryExample Channels
WelcomeStart Hererules, welcome, server guide
OnboardGetting Startedsetup help forum, FAQs
UpdatesProduct Updatespatch notes, release feedback
SupportHelp Desksupport forum, known issues

StaffInternalstaff chat, archive

Key fact: Every channel should answer one question: what do I post here?

Build the Onboarding Funnel

Community Onboarding lets new members answer a few questions and receive matching roles and channels. Set Default Channels first, then add customization questions.

🚪 Quick Onboarding Flow

👋 1. Land in the welcome channel

↓

❓ 2. Answer “What is your role?”

↓

🧩 3. Pick your product or plan

↓

🔔 4. Opt in to patch note pings

↓

🆘 5. Find help in the support forum

Questions can be asked before or after joining. Mark key questions as Required, and move optional ones to the Channels and Roles tab.

⚠️ Heads up: Onboarding answers are self selected. Do not use them to unlock confidential customer channels. Assign those roles manually or through a verified process.

Run Patch Notes Like a Product Launch

Use a dedicated Announcement channel for patch notes. Other servers can follow it, and your members can opt in to notifications.

  • Keep it clean. Let members read and react, then discuss elsewhere.
  • Use an opt in role. Offer it as a post join onboarding question so only interested customers get pinged.
  • Pair it with a feedback thread. Send replies to a release feedback forum.

💡 Tip: Post patch notes in a consistent format: version, date, fixes and known issues.

Set Up a Support Forum

A forum channel keeps each question in its own thread, which suits support. Forums require Community to be enabled.

When a customer repeats a known question, link the existing thread instead of answering again.

Measure What Works

Check which onboarding answers members pick and which channels stay quiet. Merge or remove channels that sit empty.
