Discord Server Audit Checklist: Is Your Server Running Well?
A monthly audit takes 30-60 minutes but prevents months of drift in the wrong direction. Here's what to review.
Channels
- [ ] Remove or archive channels with no messages in 60+ days
- [ ] Update topics/descriptions on channels where things have changed
- [ ] Check that channel permissions are still correct
- [ ] Verify all pinned messages are still accurate
- [ ] Confirm the #rules channel reflects current rules
Roles
- [ ] Remove roles that nobody has or that serve no purpose
- [ ] Verify each role's permissions are appropriate
- [ ] Check role hierarchy — is it still correct?
- [ ] Confirm bot roles are still above the roles they manage
- [ ] Remove roles from members who should no longer have them
Bots
- [ ] All bots are still online and responding
- [ ] No duplicate bots doing the same job
- [ ] Bot permissions haven't been accidentally expanded
- [ ] Moderation bot automod rules still make sense
- [ ] Logging bot is still capturing events correctly
Staff Team
- [ ] All listed mods are still active
- [ ] Remove inactive mods who haven't been active in 30+ days
- [ ] Any mods who need additional training or feedback?
- [ ] Staff channel is being used for coordination
Invite Links
- [ ] Audit all invite links in Server Settings → Invites
- [ ] Delete links from old promotions or expired partnerships
- [ ] Verify partner server links are still active
Security
- [ ] Verification level is appropriate for current server size
- [ ] AutoMod rules are up to date
- [ ] No members with suspicious activity in the audit log
- [ ] 2FA is required for mods (Server Settings → Safety Setup)
Listing
- ] Your [Discords.ai listing description is current
- [ ] Member count in listing is accurate
- [ ] Tags/categories still reflect your server's focus
