The Complete Wiki to Discord Privileged Intent Annual Reviews
Discord now reviews bot data access by users, not servers.
Cross 10,000 users and you must apply, then reapply every year.
Here is how to stay compliant from the Developer Portal. π
π Note: Discord's timelines and menu names can change, so confirm details in the Developer Portal and official docs.

What Changed in Privileged Intent Access
Previously, apps in fewer than 100 servers toggled Privileged Intents on in the Developer Portal. Apps in 100 or more servers had to apply.
The new rule counts unique users who can see your app across all its servers. Under 10,000, you can still toggle intents yourself.
Key fact: A bot in 50 large servers can cross 10,000 users, while a bot in 200 small servers may not.
The data each intent unlocks stays the same. Only the review rules changed.
The Three Intents Covered
| Intent | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| Guild Presences | Online status, status changes and Rich Presence activity |
| Guild Members | Member join, update and leave events, plus full member lists |
| Message Content | Message text, embeds, attachments, components and polls |
Without the Message Content intent, verified apps receive empty content fields.

Tips for Staying Approved
- Audit your intents. Switch off any you do not use.
- Explain each use case clearly. Reviewers want to see why access is required.
- Check alternatives first. Slash commands can replace message content in many bots.
- Watch for notices. Keep your Portal alerts and DMs open.
- Set a reminder. Mark your review date so a missed email never costs you access.
App Verification is separate. The 100 server verification rule still applies.

FAQ
When does my bot need review?
When it can reach 10,000 or more unique users across all its servers, even if that is a single large server.
How long do I have to apply?
Discord gives you 90 days after notifying you. Miss it and the intents are removed.
Do I have to reapply every year?
Yes. Apps that already earned access must reapply each year through the Developer Portal.
Does this replace App Verification?
No. Verification is a separate process that still starts at 100 servers.
What happens to my bot during review?
Your bot reportedly keeps its intents while a request submitted within the 90 day window is reviewed, and it can keep growing.
Do small bots need to do anything?
No. Under 10,000 users you can keep toggling intents in the Developer Portal, but you will be notified if you grow past the limit.
Where do I read the official rules?
Read the Privileged Intent review guide and Discord's support article.
