How to Write a Discord Server Ad That Gets Clicks

Most Discord server ads are generic and ignored. Here's how to write one people actually click.

The Core Formula

Hook → Value → Social Proof → CTA

  • Hook: One sentence that makes the reader say "that's for me"
  • Value: What they get by joining (specific, not vague)
  • Social Proof: Numbers, activity, reputation
  • CTA: Clear, low-friction invitation to join

Reddit Ad Template

[Title]: Active [niche] community - [specific benefit] - [member count] members

[Body]: Looking for [specific type of person]? [Server Name] is a [description of server].

What you get: • [Specific benefit 1] • [Specific benefit 2] • [Specific benefit 3] • [Specific benefit 4]

We've been active for [X months/years] with [daily activity metric].

Join us: [invite link]

Listing Site Description Template

[One punchy hook sentence.]

We offer: 🔥 [Feature 1] 🎮 [Feature 2] 🎁 [Feature 3] 💬 [Feature 4]

Perfect for: [specific description of ideal member]

Join [X]+ members who [specific activity they do in the server].

What Makes a Hook Work

Weak: "Join our Discord server!" Strong: "The only Valorant server where Diamond+ players actively coach newcomers."

The strong hook:

  • Identifies who it's for
  • Mentions something specific and valuable
  • Creates an image in the reader's mind

Words That Convert

  • "Active" (not dead)
  • "Growing" (momentum)
  • "Welcoming" (newcomers feel safe)
  • "Daily" (frequency signals life)
  • Specific numbers ("2,400 members" beats "large community")

Words to Avoid

  • "Chill" - used by every server
  • "Fun" - means nothing
  • "Friendly staff" - expected, not differentiating
  • "New but growing" - signals small and quiet
