How to Create Discord Server Promotional Graphics

Servers with good graphics get significantly more clicks than text-only listings. Here's how to create them โ€” no design experience needed.

Types of Graphics to Create

  • Server banner โ€” For listing site profiles (960ร—540)
  • Server icon โ€” Square, circular display (512ร—512)
  • Social media post โ€” For Twitter, TikTok thumbnails, Instagram
  • Event graphic โ€” For scheduled events (1920ร—1080)
  • Invite splash โ€” Shown on invite landing pages (1920ร—1080)

Free Tools

Canva (Recommended)

  • Huge template library including Discord-specific templates
  • Drag and drop โ€” no skill required
  • Free tier is sufficient for most needs
  • Export as PNG, JPG, or GIF

Adobe Express

  • Clean templates with good design defaults
  • Free tier available
  • Better font selection than Canva

Figma

  • More control but steeper learning curve
  • Great for consistent branding across multiple assets
  • Free for personal use

Design Principles for Non-Designers

Colour: Pick 2-3 colours and stick to them. Use your server's theme colour as the primary.

Fonts: Use a maximum of 2 fonts โ€” one for headings (bold, readable), one for body (clean, simple).

Contrast: Text must be readable. Dark text on light background or light text on dark background. Test at small sizes.

Hierarchy: The most important thing (your server name) should be the biggest. Secondary info is smaller.

Whitespace: Empty space is good. Don't fill every pixel.

Banner Content Checklist

  • [ ] Server name (large and clear)
  • [ ] 1-2 sentence tagline
  • [ ] Key feature or differentiator
  • [ ] Your server's icon or mascot
  • [ ] Colour scheme consistent with server icon

Consistency

Use the same visual style across your Discords.ai listing, social media, and in-server banners. Recognition builds trust.
