Design Principles for Non-Designers
Colour: Pick 2-3 colours and stick to them. Use your server's theme colour as the primary.
Fonts: Use a maximum of 2 fonts โ one for headings (bold, readable), one for body (clean, simple).
Contrast: Text must be readable. Dark text on light background or light text on dark background. Test at small sizes.
Hierarchy: The most important thing (your server name) should be the biggest. Secondary info is smaller.
Whitespace: Empty space is good. Don't fill every pixel.
Banner Content Checklist
- [ ] Server name (large and clear)
- [ ] 1-2 sentence tagline
- [ ] Key feature or differentiator
- [ ] Your server's icon or mascot
- [ ] Colour scheme consistent with server icon
Consistency
Use the same visual style across your Discords.ai listing, social media, and in-server banners. Recognition builds trust.
