Blizzard has opened a third door into Azeroth. World of Warcraft: Forever went live worldwide on 4 November 2026, and it's a brand-new take on the original level 1 to 60 game that sits alongside modern WoW and WoW Classic.
It isn't a remaster. Blizzard says Forever adds more than 1,000 new quests, new and reimagined zones, a new playable race and nine new dungeons. One day after launch, it was already the third-biggest trending game on Discord.
Here's what WoW: Forever is, what you need to play it, the launch times, how it compares with Classic and Retail, and what players reported on launch night.
At a glance - Launched: 4 November 2026, 3:00 PM PST (23:00 UTC), in all regions at once - Platform: desktop, via the Battle.net app - Access: included with a WoW subscription or Game Time - Level cap: 60 - New race: the Skyborne (needs a Skyborne pack, from $29.99) - Raids: open on 9 December - Discord: number 3 on Trending Games for 30 October to 5 November
⚔️ What Is World of Warcraft: Forever?
World of Warcraft: Forever is a separate, permanent version of WoW. Blizzard calls it "a permanent home alongside modern and Classic WoW," set in a new and reimagined Azeroth.
The story takes place after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. You level from 1 to 60 across the original continents, the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, but much of the content is new.

Some outlets call it "Classic+". PC Gamer described it as "another timeline's version of the MMO," with a slower, lo-fi update schedule.
🗺️ What's Included at Launch
According to Blizzard's launch announcement, Forever includes:
- More than 1,000 new quests across the level 1 to 60 journey
- New or reimagined zones: Mount Hyjal, Shen'dralas, the Riverglades and Zephras Isle
- Nine new five-player dungeons for levels 13 to 60
- Three raids from 9 December: Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair
- A 15 vs 15 battleground, Battle for the Darkspear Islands

🆚 Forever vs Classic vs Retail
| WoW Classic | World of Warcraft: Forever | Retail (modern WoW) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | The original game, recreated | A reimagined level 1 to 60 Azeroth | The current game and expansions |
| Content | Original quests and zones | 1,000+ new quests, new zones, dungeons and raids | Latest expansion content |
| Server choice | Pick a realm | Pick a ruleset (no realm list) | Pick a realm |
| Access | Subscription or Game Time | Subscription or Game Time | Subscription or Game Time |
The biggest practical change is rulesets replace realm selection. At launch you choose Normal, PvP, Roleplay or Roleplay PvP, and a Hardcore ruleset comes after launch. Groups, dungeons and raids stay within one ruleset.
On your first login, you also pick an experience preset: Classic or Enhanced. Blizzard recommends Enhanced if you're unsure.
💰 Price and Editions
Forever itself is included with a WoW subscription or Game Time. The Skyborne race needs a separate pack. Prices below are as reported by Warcraft Tavern:
| Edition | Price | Main extras |
|---|---|---|
| Skyborne Heroic Pack | $29.99 | Skyborne race and Zephras Isle start, Cerulean Prideclaw mount, cosmetics, 1 Invite-A-Friend code |
| Skyborne Epic Pack | $59.99 | Heroic Pack, 30 days of Game Time, more cosmetics and pets, 3 Invite-A-Friend codes |
| Warcraft Forever Collection | $79.99 | Epic Pack plus Warcraft III: Reforged and the Forsaken Kingdom campaign (until 11 January 2027) |

🚦 How Did Launch Night Go?
Early reports suggest it went fairly smoothly. iXBT.games, citing Wowhead, reported login queues of about 5 to 10 minutes and no mass disconnects in the first hours.
It also reported a few problems:
- A temporary "unavailable" message at login, which Blizzard reportedly fixed quickly
- Payment processing issues acknowledged by the developers
- Players unable to create characters of some factions on PvP servers
- Crowded starting zones, with players competing for mobs
Things can change quickly in launch week, so check Blizzard's support channels if you can't get in.
💬 World of Warcraft: Forever on Discord
Forever entered Discord's Trending Games chart at number three for 30 October to 5 November, as a new entry released just one day earlier. Only Fortnite and R.E.P.O. ranked higher.
Its Discord game page links to the World of Warcraft community server, with about 195,000 members and around 46,000 online. With fresh characters on every ruleset, it's a busy place to find a guild or group.
If you're starting a guild, our guide to setting up a gaming Discord server covers channels and bots. Use Discord roles and permissions to separate officers, raiders and recruits. When raids open on 9 December, our Discord events guide helps you schedule raid nights.
WoW also supports linking guild chat to a Discord channel, so members can keep talking outside the game.
