Discord Cross-Promotion: How to Grow With Other Servers

Cross-promotion is mutual growth โ€” you help another server grow, they help you. Done well, it's the most efficient free growth tactic available.

Types of Cross-Promotion

1. Partner Channels

The most common form โ€” you each add the other's server to a #partners channel. Passive but consistent exposure.

2. Co-Hosted Events

Host an event together (tournament, game night, AMA) and both servers attend. This creates genuine cross-community interaction, not just passive ads.

3. Guest AMAs

Invite an admin or notable member from a partner server to do an AMA (Ask Me Anything) in your server. They'll promote it to their community, driving their members to yours temporarily โ€” and some will stay.

4. Content Swaps

Post each other's content (a clip, an article, a community highlight) in relevant channels with attribution.

5. Collab Giveaways

Run a joint giveaway where entrants must join both servers. High-growth tactic but can attract low-quality members โ€” use level requirements.

Finding Cross-Promotion Partners

  • Browse Discords.ai for servers in complementary niches
  • Look for partnership requests in Discord listing hubs
  • Reach out to servers you personally enjoy
  • Find communities on Reddit, Twitter, or TikTok with a Discord server

Making the Pitch

Be specific about what you're proposing:

"Hey! I'd love to co-host a [game night/AMA/giveaway] between our communities. We have [X] active members interested in [topic]. Would your community be up for it?"

Quality Over Quantity

5 active, well-matched partners outperform 50 random server listings. Focus on communities whose members would genuinely thrive in your server.
