Discord Account Disabled: What to Do
Finding your Discord account disabled is stressful. Here's what's happening and how to appeal.
Disabled vs Banned: The Difference
Account Disabled — Discord has deactivated your account. You can't log in. Usually triggered by automated systems or a ToS violation review.
Server Banned — You've been banned from a specific server. Your account still works everywhere else.
Why Do Accounts Get Disabled?
Automated flags (most common):
- Your account was reported by multiple users
- Suspicious login patterns (logging in from many different IPs)
- Sending too many friend requests or DMs (spam-like behaviour)
- Sharing links that trigger Discord's phishing filters
Terms of Service violations:
- Sharing NSFW content in non-NSFW channels
- Harassment or doxxing
- Threats of violence
- Being under 13 years old
Step 1: Try Resetting Your Password
Before assuming a disable, try resetting your password — some login issues look similar to disables.
Step 2: Submit an Appeal
- Go to support.discord.com
- Click Submit a Request
- Select Trust & Safety
- Choose the appropriate category
- Explain your situation clearly — include:
Submit from the email registered to your Discord account.
What to Say in Your Appeal
Good appeal (honest, specific): 'My account [username] was disabled on [date]. I believe this may have been triggered by [specific reason]. I have not violated Discord's Terms of Service intentionally. My account is X years old and I primarily use it for [describe use]. I'd like to understand what triggered the disable and request reinstatement.'
If Your Account Stays Disabled
- Accept the decision and create a new account
- If you believe it's genuinely wrong, escalate by tagging @discord on Twitter/X with your ticket number
Protect Your Account Going Forward
- Enable 2FA immediately
- Don't click suspicious links
- Don't send mass DMs or friend requests
