How to use the discords.ai bot, step by step

Every command the bot adds, in the order you are likely to need them. Each one says what has to be set up first, what you type, what Discord shows you back, and what the failures actually mean.

The Discord screens below are drawn, not photographed, so they follow the bot rather than going stale the first time either of us changes a word.

You run a server and want it in the directory, and you would rather not fill in a web form.

Needs Manage Server.

Before this works

You need Manage Server in the server you are listing.
The bot has to be in it.

The description is what people read in the directory, so write it for somebody who has never heard of your server. The invite must not expire, or the listing breaks the day it does.

Somebody asks how the listing is doing and you do not want to open a browser.

range is optional; it defaults to 7 days

Read the reply.
Views are how many people opened the listing. Joins are how many of them actually followed the invite, which is the number that matters.

Growth

`/bump`

Your listing has slid down the directory and you want it back near the top.

Anyone in the server can do this, not only staff.

Set up a reminder so the next one is not missed.
The cooldown is the whole game: a listing bumped twice a day outranks one bumped twice a week. Bump Reminders tells you the moment it expires, and Auto Bump does it for you on Gold and Platinum.

It says you are on cooldown.

Somebody already bumped. The reply names the time; higher plans have shorter cooldowns.

`/members [range]`

You want member growth read from Discord rather than from the day you joined the directory.

A snapshot is taken once a day, so this starts being useful a week after the bot joins and gets better from there.

Moderation

Somebody is breaking the rules and no moderator is around.

Reports are weighted and counted once per person. The reply tells you the running total, so you can see it is not a button that bans people.
