Discord Quest Ban: Why Auto-Completing Quests Can Lock You Out
Free Orbs for watching a trailer you don’t care about? It’s easy to see why auto-complete scripts took off. But a Discord Quest ban is now a real risk, and people using those tools are finding Quests greyed out and a violation sitting on their account.
Discord began warning users about Quest automation in April 2026. By late August, dataminers were reporting temporary Quest bans and Account Standing violations for accounts caught using third-party scripts and plugins.
Below: what’s actually been reported, what Discord’s rules say, and how to keep earning Quest rewards without putting your account at risk.
At a glance
- What triggers it: scripts, client mods or plugins that complete Quests for you
- April 2026: warnings sent to accounts using Quest automation tools
- Late August 2026: reports of 14-day Quest bans plus an Account Standing violation
- The rule it breaks: Discord bans “unauthorized software designed to modify the services” and self-bots
- Bigger risk: enforcement can affect the whole account, not just Quests
- Safe option: complete Quests the normal way, on supported platforms
🔍 What Is a Discord Quest Ban?
Quests reward you with Orbs or items for playing a game or watching a sponsored video. Discord’s Quests FAQ explains how they’re tracked, and why some only work on desktop.

Auto-complete tools skip the middle step. Some fake the activity Discord tracks, others watch video Quests in the background. A Discord Quest ban is what happens when Discord spots that: you temporarily lose access to Quests, and in reported cases you also get a violation on your account.
📅 What’s Been Reported So Far
Discord hasn’t published a blog post or help article about Quest bans, so most of what we know comes from reports and user screenshots. Here’s the timeline:
| When | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|
| April 2026 | Discord started sending warning notices to users of Quest automation tools, especially on video and ad Quests. Some users said features were limited | PiunikaWeb, via Discord Previews |
| Late August 2026 | Dataminer Wumpus Central reported users “receiving 14-day quest bans, along with an Account Standing violation” | Wumpus Central on X |
| Ongoing | The developer of one popular Quest completer warns that “enforcement can hit the whole account and not just the quest reward” | GitHub README |
Treat the exact penalty as reported rather than official. Discord hasn’t confirmed ban lengths publicly, and enforcement can change without notice.
⚖️ Why Auto-Completing Quests Breaks Discord’s Rules
You won’t find “Quest scripts” named in Discord’s rules, but two lines cover them.
- Discord’s Terms of Service prohibit “using any unauthorized software designed to modify the services.” Client mods and injected scripts fall into that bucket.
- Discord’s Community Guidelines say: “Do not use self-bots or user-bots,” and “Each account must be associated with a human, not a bot.” Guideline 15 adds: “Do not engage with our service in an inauthentic way.”
Quests are paid for by advertisers who want real people to play or watch. Faking that activity is exactly the kind of inauthentic use those rules target.
🛡️ What a Violation Does to Your Account
A Quest ban by itself only blocks Quests for a while. The Account Standing violation is the part that lingers.

Violations show up under User Settings > My Account > Standing. Image: Discord.
Discord’s Warning System says most violations stay active for 90 days. While they’re active, they count towards your standing, and more violations can lead to wider limits or a suspension. If you think a violation is wrong, you can appeal it from the Standing page. Our guide to getting unbanned from Discord walks through the appeal.
⚠️ The Hidden Risk: Your Token
Losing Quest access is the mild outcome. Many “auto quest” tools ask you to paste code into Discord’s developer console or install a plugin from a random repository.
That’s also exactly how account-stealing scripts work. Code pasted into the console can read your login token, which gives someone full access to your account. Discord’s console even shows a warning telling you not to paste anything a stranger gave you.
If you’ve already run a script you didn’t fully understand:
- Change your password, which logs out other sessions.
- Turn on multi-factor authentication.
- Check User Settings > Authorized Apps and remove anything unfamiliar.
✅ How to Earn Quest Rewards Safely
- Use the official Discord desktop app for Play Quests. The Quests FAQ says progress is tracked there.
- Watch video Quests yourself. They’re short, and that’s what the reward pays for.
- Check the platform rules. Quest rewards can’t be earned on Linux, and Quests aren’t supported on Meta VR headsets.
- Don’t fake your region. Region-locked Quests are a separate risk. Our post on region-locked Quests and VPNs explains why.
- Spend your Orbs wisely. Our guide to getting Nitro with Orbs shows what they’re worth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you get banned for auto-completing Discord Quests?
Yes. Users of Quest automation tools have reported warnings since April 2026, and in late August reports described 14-day Quest bans with an Account Standing violation.
How long does a Discord Quest ban last?
Reports describe 14-day Quest bans. Discord hasn’t published official lengths, and the related Account Standing violation usually stays active for 90 days.
Will Discord ban my whole account for using a Quest script?
A first offence has mostly led to Quest restrictions and a violation, according to reports. Repeated violations can lead to wider limits or a suspension.
Is Vencord or BetterDiscord allowed?
Discord’s terms prohibit unauthorised software that modifies the service, so any client mod carries some risk. Using one to fake Quest progress is the behaviour being enforced against.
Can I appeal a Discord Quest ban?
You can appeal the Account Standing violation from User Settings > My Account > Standing.
🎮 The Bottom Line
A Discord Quest ban is the price of letting a script farm your Orbs. Discord has been warning automation users since April, and reports since August describe 14-day Quest bans plus a violation that sticks around for months.
The rewards are small, and the downside can reach your whole account, or your token if the tool is shady. Play the game or watch the video yourself, and keep your account clean.
Have you ever been tempted to automate a Quest, or do you think the rewards aren’t worth the effort either way?
