This lappy used to be below $800, but the RAM crisis being what it is, it's now a touch higher. Still, it's cheaper than just about any other modern-GPU-equipped machine I'd actually consider buying. Sure, it's an RTX 5050, which needs to be affordable to be worthwhile, but this Acer Nitro V 16 AI is still that. It has a good screen for the money, too: a 180 Hz, 1200p IPS. Oh, and while the storage capacity isn't great, there's space for another drive under the hood.

This is the cheapest we've found an RTX 5050 gaming laptop we'd actually buy for quite a while. There are others, but you may well be looking at a 45 W TGP in those cases. For budget gaming laptops I would absolutely make sure to track down the wattage the GPU is specced to run at before making a purchase. The 75 W RTX 5050 isn't terrible, but it's not the highest you'll find, but it will be pretty capable with the 1080p screen attached to it.

I'm a big fan of the Lenovo LOQ when it comes to affordable gaming laptops. For under $1,000 you're getting the max TGP you can get out of the RTX 5050, and that will deliver a similar level of 1080p gaming performance you'll get out of low-wattage RTX 5060s. It's paired with a 10-core Raptor Lake CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and a miserly, but now-typical 512 GB SSD, and that chassis makes it feel far more premium than it's priced. The only let down is that 144 Hz 1080p screen isn't the brightest.

The first thing to say is that this is the Nitro V 16S, and that S is important because it means it's a slimline device. Well, designed to be thinner than the standard Nitro chassis, anyway. But that does mean your RTX 5060 is held back to 85 W as it's got more limited cooling than the LOQ device above with its 115 W GPU. But you are still getting a 10-core, 16-thread CPU, a decent chunk of RAM, and a full 1 TB SSD, too. All for under $800.

Almost every gaming laptop around the $1,000 mark comes with just a 512 GB SSD, while this slimline Acer offers double that at a full 1 TB. That RTX 5060 is only of the 85 W variety, owing to that thin chassis, but the rest of the package makes for a great machine for the money. The 10-core Raptor Lake chip is decent, the 16 GB DDR5 is solid, and the 1920 x 1200 screen will hit a peak 180 Hz refresh.

This is one of the cheapest RTX 5060 gaming laptops available at the moment. There is an MSI Cyborg machine out there for less, but that's rocking a miserable 55 W TGP, so avoid that like it has the plague. The Victus may not be a lot higher than that, but it's a relatively slim chassis and the 144 Hz 1080p screen will be pretty well served by the RTX 5060 running at that level. There's a 10-core CPU in there, too, so this system is absolutely no slouch.

Budget gaming laptops deals are not great right now, indeed finding good RTX 5060 laptops below the $1,000 mark has become virtually impossible. This Lenovo LOQ machine is above that figure, but it does have a decent 100 W GPU, a speedy 1080p screen, and the now miserably familiar memory/storage combo of a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB RAM. The memory side wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the fact it's single channel, but in our review that didn't actually harm gaming performance.

In these RAMpocalypse-infested times, you have to sacrifice something to get a decent gaming laptop at an affordable price, and in this case, it's the GPU's power limit—just 85 W, which lowers the chip's full capabilities. And the SSD is pretty small, too. At least everything else is nice for the money, and it's plenty skinny. This is the cheapest RTX 5070 machine I can find right now I'd buy with my own cash, although the 1 TB version in the price check below is worth thinking about.

This is where we're getting into serious gaming laptop territory. Okay, the 85 W TGP for the RTX 5070 isn't peak, but it's not awful, and the rest of the spec is outstanding for this price. I had to read the specs sheet twice for this one. This particular lappy has 32 GB of DDR5, a 10-core AMD Ryzen AI 9 processor, and a 240 Hz screen for very reasonable money. And of course, it's all being driven by a 115 W RTX 5070 mobile, which should do rather nicely. You'll need some DLSS assistance to make the most of the refresh rate (particularly at 1600p), but that's a small price to pay when you're getting a machine this well-equipped for this sort of cash.

You shouldn't ignore this one, though, as it's the cheapest RTX 5070 Ti lappy I can find right now. You don't get one of AMD's AI-branded processors, but the Ryzen 9 8940HX is a 16-core/32-thread monster, the screen is very fast, and the SSD is reasonably-sized, too. It's got a slightly plastic-fantastic chassis, but with this sort of hardware for this sort of cash, I'll take it.

The G16 has been a firm favorite here at PC Gamer since Asus started wrapping them in milled aluminium chassis designs, and this one's got that super slim, super sleek feel. What you're getting here for the cash is a very portable form factor, a hyper-premium design, and a 240 Hz OLED. Some of the new models are a little noisy thanks to some saw-toothed fan profiles and hot-running Intel chips, as we found in our review of the RTX 5080 version, but this is still a gaming laptop I'd be happy to call my own.

This Legion lappy used to be cheaper, but as the memory crisis pushes gaming laptop pricing ever higher, it's jumped recently. It's a shame about the 16 GB of RAM—but it's still plenty to get gaming with, and given the state of the memory market at the moment, it's about the best you can hope for at this sort of cash.

This is a very powerful gaming laptop for the money, although it used to turn up on discount for a bit cheaper. First, you get that RTX 5070 mobile GPU, which is a very capable chip for a 1920 x 1200 resolution, especially with a 115 W TGP. And second, you get a 16-core, 32-thread AMD processor which is a mobile beast. Throw in 16 GB DDR5-5600 and a 1 TB SSD and you've got a lot of high-powered hardware with a decent saving.

I'm a big fan of this mildly anachronistic gaming laptop. It's thick, can be loud, but it delivers on gaming performance and does so for an affordable price tag. The RTX 5070 Ti at its heart is a quality 12 GB mobile GPU, has a 140 W power limit, and if you run it on balanced mode you'll still get good gaming performance on the 1200p screen but without the turbine whine of the fans. A great machine at a great price. I'd prefer more RAM and storage, but if it's gaming performance that's your priority, this will deliver.

After all, RAM upgrades are expensive, but before you stick it into your shopping basket there are some things you should know. Sure, if you value memory above all, go ahead, but the Core 7 240H chip is a ten-core, 16-thread one that will fall behind the Core Ultra 9 275HX of the MSI below. Gigabyte also has a habit of hobbling its GPUs, so the RTX 5080 here is only running at 115 W, which might make it quieter and cooler, but also definitively slower. This little Nitro might not have all the bells and whistles of fancier machines, but it's certainly got everything you need to get gaming. The RTX 5060 at its heart has a 75 W power limit, which is a little on the tight side, but paired with a 1080p screen should do just fine. This little Acer machine packs a decent whack of gaming punch for the price, particularly as good sub-£1,000 RTX 5060 gaming laptops are hard to find right now. The Nvidia GPU has a 95 W power limit, which is pretty good going given than most of the machines I'm finding for the same money are 80 W or less, and it's got an eight-core AMD chip with plenty of go in it. RTX 5060 gaming laptops under £1,000 have all but disappeared at this point, but this little Lenovo machine just squeaks under the wire. It's got a 115 W variant of the RTX 5060, which is a great match for its 1080p screen. Plus the CPU is decently beefy, and it's got a proper 1 TB SSD. For the cash, you can't do much better than this right now.

We reviewed the RTX 5060 version of this laptop late last year, and found it to be good—with one primary caveat. The 85 W RTX 5060 at its core isn't the fastest variant you'll find, and this RTX 5070 version has the same power limit. However, the A16 has an excellent chassis design, a decently fast screen, and a great smattering of budget components that still make it a desirable thing, and the RTX 5070 version will still be pretty quick.

While this Gigabyte lappy has a relatively low-power variant of the RTX 5070 at an 85 W TGP, the fact that it's also been equipped with an easy-on-the-GPU 1200p screen stacks the odds in its favour. We've already reviewed the RTX 5060 version and called it good—if a little underpowered, thanks to that entry-level GPU. This one? Much more like it for the cash.

This Asus TUF A16 is a particular favourite of mine, as it's a powerful machine that often turns up with a discount. This one's got an older—yet still very beefy—16-core, 32-thread AMD CPU, a 115 W RTX 5070, and 32 GB of DDR5. Sure, it's only got a 1200p display, but that's the sweet spot for keeping your frame rates high without too much DLSS help, and your digital adventures should look lovely regardless.

The Lenovo Legion 5i used to be found discount, but even at full price it's still a good deal. This model is still one of the cheaper RTX 5070 gaming laptops you'll find in the UK right now from a major manufacturer, and one that's worth some serious consideration. It's got a speedy Intel chip, a 115 W variant of Nvidia's mid-tier mobile GPU, and a proper 1 TB SSD, making it quite the catch. We love a Lenovo lappy, and this one makes a whole lot of sense.

Although the RTX 5070 Ti here has had its wings clipped slightly with a 115 W TGP, it should thrash any RTX 5070-equipped lappy in the gaming benchmarks with very little issue. Plus, it's been combined with an eight-core, 16-thread CPU with plenty of get up and go, a 180 Hz 1600p screen, and a proper 1 TB SSD. I'd like to see some more RAM, but it's darn expensive to buy on its own right now, so bear that in mind if you're thinking of an upgrade.

We've been very impressed by the RTX 5080 version of this particular laptop for the value proposition it provides, and the RTX 5070 Ti variant is no slouch, either. While many RTX 50-series lappys are still priced into the stratosphere, this 16-inch machine isgood value for the components you end up receiving. That's apart from the SSD, unfortunately, which is far too small.

RTX 5080 machines are still eye-wateringly expensive for the most part, but we're big fans of this Vector lappy, especially because of the price. It might not have the prettiest chassis, but it's as fast as a very, very fast thing for a fair bit cheaper than most of the competition—with a speedy 240 Hz IPS panel thrown into the bargain, too. That makes it a genuine value proposition in a laptop market filled with extremely pricey equivalents. It's a smart buy, no doubt, although I'd stick a touch more RAM in it—if you can find some for anything less than silly money.
